This year Formby High School had the honour of hosting the Liverpool Geographical Association Senior Quiz 2013 and are delighted to report that the Formby High team won.
The winning team was made up of three committed Year 10 students, James Bamber, Grace Halton and Ewan Spence. The Geography enthusiasts defeated three other schools, Merchant Taylors’ School, St Edwards College and West Kirby Grammar beating the latter by a clear 6 points.
The annual quiz is open to all schools across the Merseyside area and regularly attracts the region’s top schools. The two hour quiz tested world-wide geography, map reading and finished in a tense bonus round where Formby High were up against strong favourites West Kirby Grammar. All teams thoroughly enjoyed the event and look forward to taking part next year. The Formby High team walked away with the quiz trophy and gifts from the Geographical Association.
The Geography Department at Formby High are thrilled with the success and are very proud of James, Grace and Ewan. The trophy will hold pride of place and we look forward to hosting the annual regional event again and defending our title.
The Liverpool Geographical Association Junior Quiz 2013 will take place at Liverpool Hope in April and the Geography Department are hopeful to report further success.
